Sprint Nextel Corporation

Sr. Program Manager, Herndon, VA

February 2002 – Present

  • Program Manage new Product Development initiatives for Nextel IT by managing many concurrent cross-functional projects that utilize multiple IT development organizations
    • Act as the primary liaison between the business units and IT development organizations
    • Function as Solutions Architect for new product development activities within IT
    • Manage budgets for each project
    • Implement projects using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology
    • Worked on integrating Spring and Nextel’s development methodologies
  • Successfully managed and deployed Nextel’s Multimedia Messaging Service
    • Managed all the various IT projects relating to MMS (billing, provisioning, reporting, order entry, web interface)
    • Worked with Marketing, Product Development, Engineering and Customer Care to create a provisioning, billing and customer care model
    • Continued work on the messaging roadmap after the merger of Sprint and Nextel
  • Oversaw all new Public Safety Product initiatives
  • Launched a state of the art and first of its kind notification system that allows customers to be notified if an AMBER Alert has been issued in their area
    • Received an Award from the National Center for Missing and Exploited children
    • Delivered a low cost activation and reporting architecture
  • Implemented and deployed Wireless Priority Service
  • Responsible for managing and deploying the Sprint Nextel integrated web site upon merger completion
    • Implemented an updated and enhanced web storefront experience to accommodate the Sprint and Nextel merger

Nextel Communications

  • Coordinated the cross functional use of web API’s for use with internal organizations and outside vendors
  • Deployed a one of a kind system that synchronizes Contacts, Appointments, and Tasks between MS Exchange and PeopleSoft CRM 8.4
  • Lead architect for Nextel’s PeopleSoft CRM implementation
    • Designed a cutting edge server architecture utilizing both Sun and Windows hardware
    • Conducted a vendor and product assessment between Weblogic and Websphere application servers
    • Drove the system and server architecture through design. This includes Java, web server, application server, and database servers
    • Designed and developed a one of a kind (at the time) Outlook to PeopleSoft synchronization solution
  • Architected and managed Nextel’s order entry system
    • Designed a complex Lotus Notes and Oracle database model
    • Utilized best of breed technologies to improve the Nextel Order Entry experience by 80%.
    • Managed a team of administrators overseeing Nextel’s mission critical web based order entry system, which processed 75% of all new phone activations
  • Designed and implemented one of the first Oracle 9i RAC installations
  • Lead Architect and Project Manager for a data center move from Abilene, TX to Atlanta, GA
